Recreation

Though the island's small, there's a lot to do. Ocracoke is popular for it's fishing and beach activities. Hit the surf, play around in a kayak or bike through it's historic village or along the coast. At night, enjoy the sounds of local bands.


Fishing

Just 30 to 60 minutes away from the Gulf Stream, Ocracoke Island offers world class fishing. King mackerel, dolphin, tuna and wahoo are only a short distance outside the inlet. Soundside, there's an abundance of speckle and gray trout, flounder, puppy drum and bluefish. For surf fishing fans, there are blue blitzes, red drum and whiting runs. South Point is a popular fisihing destination, known for a reliable day's catch.

Ocracoke is home to Molasses Creek, a high energy acoustic folk-fusion band that delights audiences with foot-stomping bluegrass, ballads, and a bit of wacky humor.
